主な経歴

Before joining HSU, I worked at elementary and middle schools around Yamanashi. I served as an ALT, FET and a teacher trainer. In addition to teaching English to children, I also helped the staff improve their English, and trained them in how to team teach, and how to teach English in general. I have also served as an interpreter. Now, I am working on my career as a college-level teacher, and hope to do so for years to come.

教育・研究に対する考え方

I believe that learning to speak English well is very similar to learning a musical instrument. One cannot read books about piano playing and then become a master, that would require months or years of practice. Speaking English is similar. By shifting the focus of English lessons from the textbook to the interaction between students in a real-time conversation, students can become more fluent speakers much faster, and so I aim for that in my teaching.

I have several interests, which include snowboarding, scuba diving, fencing, singing, drumming, programming art, and board games. Also, if you are curious, I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky in the USA. I came to Japan on the JET program in 2006.
